Breaking Into Light: Poetry as Community Practice
$23.00
The usual image of the poet is of the solitary writer, but this recorded class demonstrates how poetry can be an activity of collective reflection, creativity, and generative writing. This video recording shows a small-group approach to deepening into poetry, going slowly through the text to fully absorb the images and emotions it brings forth, then letting them inspire one's own experiments with verse. No poetry expertise needed.
This kind of embodied poetry work can be very useful for building, deepening, and transforming community at virtually any scale of size. It also invites a loosening of emotions, a sense of play, and a transformative exploration of what arises in listening to poetry in the presence of others.
From this event you will receive:
1. A valuable tool for emotional self-regulation, reflective listening, and community-building;
2. A new approach for how to appreciate poetry and, by extension, many kinds of writing;
3. A demonstration of how a small group collaborates to open up layers of meaning, message, and depth.
