Introduction to Loreology

$55.00

All our values, goals, plans, and hopes depend on the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, who we belong with, why we're here, and what reality is. These "keystone stories" are useful until we get so stuck to them that we mistake them for reality itself. When they are outworn, we can't change them because we can't see that they are stories.

Loreology evolved from the work of Craig Chalquist, PhD, PhD to explore, expand, or, where needed, replace our keystone stories with those that enhance our humanity, lead to growth, and help us reimagine who we are and where we must go next in life. Loreology is useful as a kind of "worldview therapy" for revitalizing or transforming outworn worldviews. Our time needs guiding stories that uplift, inspire, appreciate nature and place, and connect us with each other.

This course offers:

  1. Education on the importance of imagination and story for making change;

  2. Examples of how storytelling can reenchant our relations with the world;

  3. Exploration of how our very sense of self is a series of stories we tell ourselves; and

  4. An invitation to practice loreology informally or as a vocational option.

4 videos. Total length: 2.6 hours.
